National Geoscience Awards 2024

On 26th September 2025, President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Geoscience Awards-2024 at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, recognizing outstanding contributions in geoscience.

• The President noted the historic role of minerals in human civilization, with eras like the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age named after them.
• She emphasized the mining sector’s role in industrialization, development, and employment generation, while cautioning about its negative impacts such as displacement, deforestation, and pollution.
• Geoscientists were called upon to responsibly explore ocean-based resources, innovate to reduce wastage, add value to minerals, and ensure geo-environmental sustainability.
