Indian Navy’s Training Squadron Arrives in Mombasa, Kenya

On 25th September 2025, the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir, INS Sujata, INS Shardul, and ICGS Sarathi, arrived at Mombasa, Kenya, as part of its long-range training deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region.
- The squadron was welcomed by the Kenya Navy, the Defence Advisor, and the Acting High Commissioner of India, highlighting warm bilateral naval ties.
- The visit follows earlier port calls in Seychelles, Mauritius, La Réunion, and Mozambique, reinforcing India’s maritime outreach in the region.
- Professional exchanges will include joint training sessions, Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX), and Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Kenya Navy.
- The deployment underlines India’s commitment to MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions—through strengthened partnerships, enhanced interoperability, and promotion of regional maritime security.
