NHAI to Launch QR Code Highway Sign Boards

  • 06 Oct 2025

On 3rd October 2025, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced plans to install QR code-enabled Project Information Sign Boards across national highways to improve transparency, road safety, and commuter convenience.

  • The QR code sign boards will allow highway users to instantly access project-specific information, including National Highway number, chainage, project length, and construction and maintenance timelines.
  • Commuters will also be able to view contact details of key personnel such as the Highway Patrol, Toll Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, and the NHAI field office, ensuring direct access for queries or assistance.
  • Emergency helpline number 1033 will be prominently displayed on the boards, enabling timely access to emergency services during accidents or roadside incidents.
  • The boards will provide real-time details about nearby facilities, including hospitals, petrol pumps, toilets, restaurants, police stations, truck lay-byes, vehicle repair shops, and e-charging stations, along with distances to the nearest toll plazas.
  • To maximize visibility and utility, NHAI will install the sign boards at toll plazas, wayside amenities, rest areas, truck lay-byes, and at the start and end points of highways.
