- 11 Oct 2025
On 10th October 2025, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy officially recognised three major ports as Green Hydrogen Hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, marking a major step in India’s clean energy transition.
- The ports identified for this recognition include Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tamil Nadu, and Paradip Port Authority in Odisha, reflecting a strategic geographic spread across the country.
- The Ministry stated that this recognition is a crucial move towards establishing an integrated hydrogen ecosystem in India, supporting both production and consumption at scale.
- The National Green Hydrogen Mission is designed to position India as a global leader in the production, utilisation, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives, boosting both domestic and international energy markets.
- The Mission encourages the development of large-scale hydrogen hubs, which are intended to act as central points for hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and consumption, ensuring a streamlined and efficient value chain.
