‘Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina’ Approved at Mumbai Harbour

On 19th December 2025, the Union Government approved a ₹887-crore plan to develop a world-class marina at Mumbai Harbour to boost coastal shipping, maritime tourism and waterfront-led urban development.

  • The project, titled Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina, has been cleared by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in line with the vision of Narendra Modi to create global-standard tourism destinations and strengthen India’s maritime economy.
  • The marina will be developed over nearly 12 hectares of seawater area and will have the capacity to berth 424 yachts of up to 30 metres in length.
  • The project will follow a hybrid development model, combining public investment with private participation.
  • The Mumbai Port Authority will invest about ₹470 crore to build core marina infrastructure under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, while a private operator will invest around ₹417 crore to develop onshore facilities.
