Network Readiness Index 2025

On 4th February 2026, according to the report released by the Portulans Institute, India climbed four places to rank 45th in the Network Readiness Index 2025.

Improved Global Ranking: India moved up from its previous position to secure the 45th rank among 127 economies assessed in the Network Readiness Index 2025.
Better Overall Score: The country’s overall score improved from 53.63 out of 100 in 2024 to 54.43 in 2025, reflecting stronger performance in digital readiness.
Assessment Framework: The index evaluates economies across four pillars- Technology, People, Governance and Impact, based on 53 indicators.
Top Global Positions: India ranked first globally in key areas such as annual investment in telecommunication services, AI scientific publications, ICT services exports and e-commerce legislation.
Second Rank Achievements: The country secured second position in FTTH/building internet subscriptions, mobile broadband internet traffic and international internet bandwidth.
Strong Market Indicators: India placed third globally in domestic market scale and income inequality indicators within the index framework.
Role of ICT Development: The Network Readiness Index measures how effectively countries use information and communication technologies to support economic growth, innovation and social progress.
