India Announces $175 Million Seychelles Package

On 9th February 2026, India announced a Special Economic Package worth 175 million dollars for Seychelles during the state visit of Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie to India.

- Major Financial Assistance: The $175 million package will support key sectors including social housing, e-mobility, vocational training, health, defence and maritime security in Seychelles.
- MoUs Signed: India and Seychelles signed 7 Memoranda of Understanding covering areas such as health, meteorology, electronics and information technology, and good governance.
- Meteorological Cooperation: One agreement focuses on technical and scientific collaboration between the India Meteorological Department and the Seychelles Meteorological Authority.
- Civil Services Training: A dedicated MoU will enable training of Seychelles civil servants in India to strengthen governance and administrative capacity.
- Digital Transformation Support: India will share its experience in digital transformation, helping Seychelles adopt successful Indian digital solutions.
- Health Sector Partnership: The two countries agreed to expand cooperation in affordable medicines, medical tourism and health infrastructure development.
- Maritime Strategic Importance: The Prime Minister emphasised that Seychelles holds a special place in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and remains an important maritime partner in the Indian Ocean region.
