‘Saving Lives and Building a Healthier Bharat’ Campaign

On 24th February 2026, President inaugurated the nationwide campaign ‘Saving Lives and Building a Healthier Bharat’, organised by PD Hinduja Hospital, at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

- Strengthening Public Healthcare: The President highlighted major government initiatives including over 1.8 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs delivering primary healthcare services nationwide.
- Ayushman Bharat Coverage: Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, around 12 crore families receive health coverage of ₹5 lakh per family per year for hospitalisation, making it the world’s largest health insurance scheme.
- Disease Eradication Efforts: National programmes such as Mission Indradhanush, the TB-Free India Campaign and the Sickle Cell Anaemia Eradication Mission are advancing preventive healthcare.
- Medical Education Expansion: The number of MBBS and postgraduate seats has been increased, with new AIIMS and medical colleges established to improve access to quality doctors and paramedical professionals.
- Golden Hour and Emergency Care: The President emphasised the importance of timely medical intervention within the golden hour, noting that the PM Relief Scheme provides cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims.
- Technology and AI In Healthcare: She highlighted the growing role of AI and digital innovation in healthcare, supported by initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission.
- Domestic Manufacturing Push: The President stressed the importance of reducing dependence on imported medical devices and medicines, encouraging domestic manufacturing under initiatives like Make in India and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.
- Collective Responsibility: The campaign calls for collaboration among government, medical professionals, industry and civil society to ensure affordable, world-class healthcare for all citizens.
