Ahmedabad Metro North-South Corridor Extension

On 24th February 2026, the Union Cabinet approved extension of Ahmedabad Metro’s North-South corridor from GIFT City to Shahpur.
- The extension will cover 3.33 kilometres with 3 elevated stations.
- The project cost is estimated at ₹1,067.35 crore.
- Completion is targeted within 4 years.
- The extension will strengthen Ahmedabad-GIFT region connectivity.
- It will benefit multinational companies and educational institutions along the route.
- Daily ridership is projected at 23,702 passengers by 2029.
- Ridership is expected to rise to 58,059 passengers by 2041.
- The project will be implemented by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
- The Ahmedabad Metro network currently spans 68.28 kilometres.
