NITI Aayog Appoints Two New Full-Time Members

On 2nd May 2026, PM approved the appointment of Dr R. Balasubramaniam and Dr Joram Aniya as full-time members of NITI Aayog.
- With these appointments, the total number of full-time members rises to seven.
- Dr R. Balasubramaniam has served in the Capacity Building Commission and is an author.
- Dr Joram Aniya is an academician with over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and public policy.
- She is the first woman from the Nyishi community to earn a PhD and the first Hindi doctorate in Arunachal Pradesh.
- The appointments follow a broader restructuring of NITI Aayog.
- Earlier, Ashok Lahiri was appointed Vice-Chairman, replacing Suman Bery.
- Other new members include Abhay Karandikar and Dr M. Srinivas.
- This marks the first major revamp of NITI Aayog since its establishment in 2015.
