India Launches First Barrier-less Tolling System

On 1st May 2026, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launched India’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less tolling system in Gujarat.

  • The system has been implemented at the Chorayasi Toll Plaza on the Surat-Bharuch section of NH-48.
  • It enables seamless toll collection without vehicles stopping.
  • The technology uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and FASTag.
