On 6th May 2026, Ted Turner, former owner of the Baseball team Atlanta Braves, passed away at the age of 87.
- In 2018, Turner publicly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.
- In 1976, he launched his Atlanta television station nationwide through satellite broadcasting, which later became TBS.
- The same year, Turner purchased the Atlanta Braves, helping transform the franchise into “America’s Team” through nationwide television broadcasts.
- He also founded the Goodwill Games and acquired a professional wrestling organisation later renamed World Championship Wrestling.
- Turner founded major media networks including CNN, TNT and TBS, significantly shaping modern broadcast journalism and entertainment.
- In later years, Turner focused on philanthropy, including a $1 billion pledge to the United Nations.
