Ted Turner

On 6th May 2026, Ted Turner, former owner of the Baseball team Atlanta Braves, passed away at the age of 87.

In 2018, Turner publicly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.
In 1976, he launched his Atlanta television station nationwide through satellite broadcasting, which later became TBS.
The same year, Turner purchased the Atlanta Braves, helping transform the franchise into “America’s Team” through nationwide television broadcasts.
He also founded the Goodwill Games and acquired a professional wrestling organisation later renamed World Championship Wrestling.
Turner founded major media networks including CNN, TNT and TBS, significantly shaping modern broadcast journalism and entertainment.
In later years, Turner focused on philanthropy, including a $1 billion pledge to the United Nations.
