On 4th June 2026, economist Neelkanth Mishra was appointed as India’s Executive Director at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.

• The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
• He will succeed Parameswaran Iyer.
• His tenure will be for a period of three years from the date he assumes office, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
