Marjane Satrapi

On 4th June 2026, renowned Iranian-French author, illustrator and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi passed away at the age of 56.

Marjane Satrapi was an internationally acclaimed graphic novelist, filmmaker and artist.
Her works often explored themes of identity, exile, freedom, culture and political change.
She was best known for the acclaimed graphic novel Persepolis, which narrates her childhood and experiences during and after the Iranian Revolution.
The graphic novel was later adapted into the award-winning animated film Persepolis, which she co-directed.
