Exercise Pitch Black 2026

On 20th July 2026, the Indian Air Force (IAF) began participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2026, the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) premier multinational air combat exercise, held at RAAF Base Darwin, Australia.

• The exercise is being conducted from 20th July to 7th August 2026 in northern Australia.
• India has deployed Rafale multirole fighter aircraft, supported by C-17 Globemaster III strategic transport aircraft and IL-78 air-to-air refuelling aircraft.
• The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, force integration, and the exchange of operational best practices among participating air forces.
