Cabinet Approves Revamped Khelo India Scheme

On 31st July 2026, the Union Cabinet approved the revamped Khelo India Scheme and an enhanced Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSFs) Scheme with a combined outlay of ₹36,441 crore for 2026–27 to 2030–31.

  • Sports Ecosystem: The scheme will strengthen institutions such as National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), Khelo India Centres of Excellence (KICoEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India Accredited Academies (KIAAs), Khelo India Centres (KICs) and Youth Sports Companies (YSCs) of the Armed Forces.
  • New Initiatives: The Cabinet approved Khelo India Feeder Schools (KIFS) and Khelo India Utkrishta Vidyalayas (KIUV) to integrate sports with school education and identify talent at an early stage.
  • Emerging Athletes: A new Emerging Khelo India Athletes (E-KIA) category has been introduced to expand the athlete development ecosystem through scientific coaching and long-term mentoring.
