Gramin Gyan Setu App

On 12th August 2026, Union Home Minister launched the Gramin Gyan Setu app to integrate libraries in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency of Gujarat.

• The app was launched on the birth anniversary of Padma Shri S.R. Ranganathan, observed as National Library Day.
• The initiative aims to establish a library in every village, preferably near schools, to promote reading and learning among children.
• Around 63 village libraries have already been established, while 752 libraries have been connected through the app.
• Four libraries, collectively holding around 2.8 lakh books, have been linked with the rural libraries through the initiative.
