Census 2027 in Ladakh

On 17th August 2026, Ladakh began Self-Enumeration for the second phase of Census 2027.

• Self-Enumeration will continue from 17th to 31st August 2026 across the Union Territory.
• Population Enumeration will be conducted from 1st to 30th September 2026.
• Ladakh will become the first Union Territory to complete the Census 2027 exercise.
• Around 637 Enumeration Blocks will be created to ensure complete population coverage.
• The schedule considers Ladakh’s harsh winters, difficult terrain and limited accessibility.
• Population Enumeration will collect data on demographics, education, employment, migration and disability.
• It will also cover language, fertility and other population characteristics.
• Census 2027 is being conducted digitally across the country.
