Youth-Centric Initiatives Announced on Independence Day

On 15 August 2026, Prime Minister announced a nationwide sports talent identification campaign for children aged 5–15 years, along with initiatives focused on employment, free coaching, entrepreneurship and a drug-free India.

2036 Olympics: The campaign aims to strengthen India’s preparations for a potential bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Sports Training: Selected children will undergo ability assessments and specialised training to develop them into elite athletes.
Women in Sports: Special attention will be given to identifying and developing talented girls.
Sports Ecosystem: The Prime Minister highlighted initiatives such as TOPS, Khelo India Games, University Games, Winter Games and Beach Games.
Commonwealth Games: India is set to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030.
Youth Employment: Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana was announced with an outlay of ₹1 lakh crore.
Employment Incentive: Young people entering private-sector employment will receive ₹15,000, while companies creating additional jobs will receive incentives.
