NSO Releases Unincorporated Non-Agricultural Sector Data

On 10th September 2026, the National Statistical Office (NSO) released India’s first district-level estimates for the unincorporated non-agricultural sector.

- Data Source: Estimates are based on the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises 2025.
- District Coverage: The estimates cover 757 of 770 districts in the sampling frame.
- Sector Coverage: The survey covers manufacturing, trade and other services.
- Key Indicators: Estimates cover establishments, workers, ownership, women’s participation, registration and productivity.
- GVA Productivity: The report provides GVA per establishment and GVA per worker across districts.
- Productivity Variation: 280 districts record GVA per worker above the national average.
- National Average: All-India GVA per worker is estimated at ₹1,56,539.
- Women’s Participation: Women constitute at least one-third of the workforce in 237 districts.
- Female Workforce: Female workers exceed 50% of the workforce in 25 districts.
- Female Ownership: Mizoram has at least 50% female-owned proprietary establishments in every district.
