Cabinet Approves SME Growth Fund

On October 6, 2026, the Union Cabinet approved the Rs. 10,000 crore 'SME Growth Fund' to provide equity capital to small and medium enterprises.
Key Highlights
- Addressing Structural Gap: This ambitious fund is specifically designed to address the shortage of long-term risk capital for growth-oriented SMEs.
- Alternative Investment Fund: Under this unique initiative, the Government of India will provide a total commitment of Rs. 10,000 crore under the Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) framework.
- Manufacturing & Regional Focus: The majority of the fund's allocation will be directed toward manufacturing sector industries and industrial clusters in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
- Global Competitiveness: Long-term equity capital will enable Indian SMEs to expand production capacity, adopt modern technology, and integrate into global value chains.
