India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise CYCLONE

A contingent of 25 Indian Army personnel arrived in Egypt on 22nd January, 2024 to participate in the 2nd edition of the India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise CYCLONE, taking place in Anshas, Egypt, from January 22 to February 1, 2024.

- Objective of the Exercise: Exercise CYCLONE focuses on familiarizing both sides with operating procedures in the context of Special Operations in desert and semi-desert terrains, adhering to Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
- Phases of the Exercise:
- First Phase - Military Exhibitions and Tactical Interactions: The initial phase involves showcasing military exhibitions and engaging in tactical interactions to enhance mutual understanding.
- Second Phase - IED Training and Combat First Aid: The subsequent phase concentrates on training related to Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), counter IED measures, and Combat First Aid.
- Third Phase - Joint Tactical Exercise: The final phase encompasses Joint Tactical Exercises centred on Fighting in Built-up Areas and Hostage Rescue Scenarios.
- Shared Objectives: The Exercise serves as a platform for both contingents to share best practices, strengthen their camaraderie, and achieve shared security objectives, promoting bilateral relations between the two nations.
