CAA-2019 Mobile App
- 16 Mar 2024
On 15th March, Union Home Ministry unveiled a mobile app for applying for Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
- The CAA-2019 app is available for download on the Google Play Store and the website indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in.
- The app aims to streamline the application process for eligible non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
- Previously, the home ministry launched a portal for citizenship applications under the CAA.
- The implementation rules for the CAA were notified recently, enabling the grant of citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim migrants from the three countries.
- The government will now begin granting Indian nationality to persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians who arrived in India until December 31, 2014, as per the CAA rules.
