On 19th April 2024, Walmart and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) collaborated to launch Walmart Centre for Tech Excellence, focusing on Computer Science research and mentoring top talent in India."

• The centre will focus on Computer Science research, addressing AI/ML and Computer Systems challenges.
• It aims to inspire top researchers in India with fellowships for pre-doc, PhD, and post-doc candidates.
• Mentorship programs and internships will be offered to students from tier 2 and tier 3 institutes.
• Collaboration with international universities is planned to enhance research opportunities.
• Launch event attended by Hari Vasudev, EVP of Walmart Global Tech, and G Rangarajan, Director of IISc.
