India Hosts Inclusive Summit on Accessibility

On 14th May 2025, to mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) organized the Inclusive India Summit in New Delhi to promote inclusive development and digital accessibility for persons with disabilities.
- Emphasizing the capabilities of the disabled community, he stated with confidence that nearly 90 percent of persons with disabilities have the potential to become productive and contributing members of society if given the right opportunities.
- The summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders, disability rights activists, and digital innovators to share best practices and collaborate on solutions to enhance accessibility in public and private spaces.
- The event aimed to raise awareness around digital accessibility challenges and foster technological and infrastructural innovations that support universal access in education, employment, and civic participation.
- The Inclusive India Summit echoed the spirit of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, which is observed globally on the third Thursday of May to promote the importance of digital inclusion for persons with disabilities.
