Chalice of Ambrosia: Ram Janmabhoomi – Challenge and Response

On 20th January 2026, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book “Chalice of Ambrosia: Ram Janmabhoomi – Challenge and Response” at the Vice President’s Enclave in New Delhi.

  • The book is authored by Surendra Kumar Pachauri, former Secretary to the Government of India, and documents the modern phase of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
  • The Vice President said the construction of the Shri Ram Mandir marks a defining civilisational moment where faith, history, law and democratic values converged with dignity and restraint.
  • He noted that the prolonged legal process, culminating in the Supreme Court of India verdict of 2019, demonstrated the strength of Indian democracy and judicial scrutiny.
  • Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s idea of Ram Rajya, he said the Ram Janmabhoomi movement reaffirmed ideals of justice, equality and dignity.
