DGCA Launches Electronic Personnel Licence (EPL) for ATPL

On 21st January 2026, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) launched Electronic Personnel Licence (EPL) services for the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) at an event held at the DGCA Headquarters in Delhi.

  • The EPL ATPL service marks a major milestone in DGCA’s digital transformation and efforts to modernise India’s civil aviation regulatory framework.
  • DG (Civil Aviation) stated that the initiative will strengthen the aviation ecosystem through secure, future-ready digital systems.
  • The Electronic Personnel Licence is a secure digital licence with ICAO-aligned security features, enabling authenticity, tamper prevention and real-time verification.
  • The EPL is accessible through the eGCA mobile application, improving ease of access for pilots.
  • DGCA began rolling out EPL in February 2025, starting with Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Flight Radio Telephone Operator’s (Restricted) Licence (FRTOL).
