High-Level Committee to Strengthen FPOs in Tamil Nadu

On 28th January 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare constituted a high-level committee to review and strengthen the functioning of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Tamil Nadu, with the objective of improving farmers’ incomes and market integration.

Background to the Decision: The decision follows the recent visit of Union Agriculture Minister to Erode, where farmers and stakeholders highlighted operational, technical, and market-related challenges faced by FPOs.

Reporting Timeline: The committee has been mandated to submit its final report within two months to the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
