PM Launches ₹33,500 Crore Development Projects in Delhi

On 8th March 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth around ₹33,500 crore in Delhi aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity and enhancing ease of living.

  • Delhi Metro Expansion: A newly inaugurated metro section will improve connectivity, especially benefiting commuters from East and North-East Delhi.
  • Modern Housing for Government Employees: The Prime Minister handed over keys for newly constructed GPRA Type-5 residential quarters in Sarojini Nagar.
  • Public Transport Expansion: Thousands of electric buses are operating in Delhi, with new ‘Devi Buses’ introduced to enhance last-mile connectivity.
  • Traffic Decongestion Efforts: Projects such as the Peripheral Expressway are helping divert traffic away from the city and reduce congestion.
  • Support For Street Vendors: Nearly 2 lakh street vendors in Delhi have received over ₹350 crore in assistance under the PM SVANidhi scheme.
