Sweden’s Royal Order of the Polar Star

On 17th May 2026, PM Narendra Modi was conferred Sweden’s highest honour for a Head of Government, the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross.

The Commander Grand Cross is regarded as the highest category of the order and is generally presented to heads of government and senior dignitaries.
The honour recognises contributions to international diplomacy, bilateral relations and global cooperation.
With this recognition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now received 31 international honours from foreign governments and institutions.
