FCRA 2.0 Portal and e-OCI Card

On 30th June 2026, Union Home Minister launched the FCRA 2.0 Portal and the Electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Card to strengthen digital governance, simplify regulatory compliance, and improve citizen services.

The FCRA 2.0 Portal digitises and streamlines major processes under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), including registration, renewal, filing of annual returns, and other regulatory services.
The portal has been developed to reduce paperwork, speed up application processing, and strengthen real-time monitoring of foreign contributions.
Around 14,500 organisations currently hold active FCRA registrations, while 15,000–20,000 applications and nearly 17,000 annual returns are processed annually through the FCRA system.
The upgraded portal incorporates provisions of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2026, and is designed to support future features such as an AI-powered chatbot, mobile access, and dedicated dashboards for banks.
