UAE Launches First Inter-Emirate Passenger Rail Service

On 30th June 2026, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully conducted the inaugural trial run of its first Etihad Rail passenger train, marking a major milestone in the country's transport infrastructure.

  • The trial journey was completed from Fujairah to Mohamed bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi.
  • The successful trial marks the beginning of final testing before the commercial launch of the UAE's first inter-emirate passenger railway network.
  • Regular passenger services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah are scheduled to commence from 30 September 2026.
  • The rail network will be expanded in phases, reaching the Al Dhafra Region by December 2026 and Sharjah by March 2027.
