UAE Launches First Inter-Emirate Passenger Rail Service

On 30th June 2026, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully conducted the inaugural trial run of its first Etihad Rail passenger train, marking a major milestone in the country's transport infrastructure.

The trial journey was completed from Fujairah to Mohamed bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi.
The successful trial marks the beginning of final testing before the commercial launch of the UAE's first inter-emirate passenger railway network.
Regular passenger services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah are scheduled to commence from 30 September 2026.
The rail network will be expanded in phases, reaching the Al Dhafra Region by December 2026 and Sharjah by March 2027.
