MECON Granted Miniratna Category-I Status

On 1st July 2026, the Ministry of Steel approved the grant of Miniratna Category-I status to MECON Limited.

  • MECON qualified for the status after meeting the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) eligibility criteria, including recording continuous profits during the last three financial years.
  • The Miniratna Category-I status grants enhanced financial and operational autonomy to the company's Board of Directors.
  • The enhanced powers will enable MECON to undertake investments, modernization, technological upgradation, and business expansion projects with greater flexibility and faster decision-making.
  • Established in 1959 and headquartered in Ranchi, Jharkhand, MECON is a leading engineering, consultancy, project management, and contracting public sector enterprise.
