India, Malaysia Hold Military Talks

On 1st July 2026, India and Malaysia held the 12th Sub Committee Meeting on Military Cooperation (SCMC) in New Delhi to review bilateral defence cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration.

- Defence Dialogue: The meeting reviewed the entire spectrum of India-Malaysia defence ties, including military exchanges, bilateral exercises, training, staff talks, capacity building and maritime cooperation.
- New Areas of Cooperation: Both countries agreed to expand collaboration in defence manufacturing, defence technology, cyber security, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).
- Enhanced Military Engagement: The two sides decided to strengthen professional exchanges and increase participation in each other's military training courses and institutions.
- Regional Cooperation: India and Malaysia reaffirmed their commitment to practical cooperation under the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts' Working Group on Counter-Terrorism.
- Indo-Pacific Focus: Both countries reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, stability, security and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific in accordance with international law.
