Education Ministry Releases PGI 2.0 Report

On 7th July 2026, the Ministry of Education released the report on Performance Grading Index 2.0 for States/UTs (PGI-S) and the Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI-D) for 2025-26 to assess school education performance across India.

- Objective: The PGI framework evaluates the performance of States, Union Territories and districts to improve school education outcomes and governance.
- PGI-S Framework: The index assesses States and UTs across 70 indicators with a total weightage of 1,000 points under six key domains.
- Assessment Areas: The six domains include learning outcomes, access, infrastructure, equity, governance processes, and teacher education and training.
- PGI-D Framework: Districts are assessed on 70 indicators carrying 600 points across six categories and eleven educational domains.
- Data Sources: The indices use data from UDISE+, PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, PM POSHAN, PRABANDH and Vidyanjali portals.
