On 7th September 2026, Odisha Cabinet approved new rules for managing Shree Jagannath Temple land.

• The rules aim to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in SJT land management.
• They are framed under the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1955.
• The rules replace the Uniform Policy, 2003 and its 2019 amendment.
• Applications for land settlement will be processed through a fully online portal-based system.
• A District Level Land Sub-Committee (DLSC) will conduct field verification.
• The Shree Jagannath Mahaprabhu Bhumi Sanchalan Committee (SJMBSC) will scrutinise applications at the district level.
• The Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will issue NOCs for all settlements.
