PM Launches Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for Railway Station Rejuvenation

On 6^th August, 2023, the Prime Minister inaugurated work on 13 railway stations in Karnataka under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

Key Points:

• Transformational Project: PM Modi kickstarted the rejuvenation of 13 railway stations in Karnataka through the ABSS, which envisions upgrading 1,309 stations across India. The scheme aims to enhance passenger experience and revitalize travel hubs.
• World-Class Stations: With an investment of Rs. 303 crore, the 13 stations, including Ballari, Mangaluru Jn., and Gulbarga, are set to evolve into modern, world-class travel destinations. Amenities will encompass roof plazas, shopping zones, food courts, children's play areas, and facilities for the physically challenged.
• Socio-Economic Hubs: The revitalized stations, featuring multi-modal connectivity, will serve as centers for socio-economic activities, fostering urban development and integration within the region.
• Broad Vision: ABSS outlines a comprehensive, continuous development plan for railway stations, with a long-term perspective. The initiative aims to infuse vitality into travel infrastructure and passenger facilities.
• New Identity for Cities: Transformed stations are expected to establish a new identity for towns and cities, acting as urban icons. Improved facilities, including multi-level parking, lifts, escalators, executive lounges, and waiting areas, will elevate the overall station experience.
