Astrophysicist Jayant Narlikar Passes Away

On 20th May 2025, Renowned astrophysicist Dr Jayant Narlikar passed away in Pune at the age of 86, leaving behind a monumental legacy in Indian astronomy and scientific education.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid homage by stating that Dr Narlikar’s passing marks the loss of one of Indian astronomy’s most influential pioneers who shaped the country’s science-driven identity.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar recalled Dr Narlikar’s lifelong efforts to promote rational thinking and scientific temperament, especially among the youth, calling him a radiant star in India’s scientific journey.
