Centre Approves ₹1,078 Cr for Gujarat Roads

On 7th January 2026, the Centre approved ₹1,078.13 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for major road development projects across Gujarat to improve connectivity, safety, and logistics efficiency.

- High-Level Review: The approval followed a review meeting held in Gandhinagar on 25 November 2025 between Gujarat Chief Minister and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister.
- Project Coverage: The funding will support 41 road works undertaken by the Gujarat state government, covering a total length of 564.57 kilometres.
- Nature of Works: The projects include widening, strengthening, resurfacing, and construction of road-related structures to enhance road quality and safety.
- Widening Works Allocation: ₹636 crore has been earmarked for 11 road widening projects spanning 229.20 km across districts including Patan, Kutch, Banaskantha, Kheda, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Valsad, Amreli, Jamnagar, and Vadodara.
- Structural Works: An additional ₹33.80 crore has been sanctioned for seven structural works in the districts of Tapi, Surat, and Dang.
- Economic Impact: State officials said the projects will reduce travel time, improve transportation efficiency, and strengthen industrial and agricultural supply chains.
