Drone-Based Mail Transmission Service Launched

On 13th June 2026, Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the launch of a drone-based mail transmission service by the Department of Posts in Himachal Pradesh.

• The service has been introduced between the Mandi Head Post Office and the Rehardhar Branch Post Office.
• The initiative aims to improve postal connectivity in remote and difficult terrain areas through the use of drone technology.
• The service was launched in response to feedback received from Gramin Dak Sevaks and Postal Assistants regarding the need for faster mail delivery in hilly and inaccessible regions.
