16th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting

From 12th to 13th June 2026, the 16th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting was held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, under India’s Presidency, where member countries unanimously adopted a Joint Declaration on food security, sustainable agriculture, innovation and farmer welfare.

• BRICS countries agreed to establish a Network of Centres of Excellence on Agroecology and Regenerative Agriculture.
• The initiative will initially be coordinated by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming System Research.
• The network will promote climate-resilient and sustainable farming practices through research, capacity building and knowledge sharing.
