Four Traditional Assam Products Receive GI Status

Recently, four traditional products from Assam received Geographical Indication (GI) status from the Geographical Indications (GI) Registry of the Government of India, providing a significant boost to the preservation of indigenous crafts and cultural heritage.

- Deuri Handloom Products
- Recognition of Cultural Heritage: The GI tags recognise Assam's rich tribal traditions, indigenous craftsmanship, handloom heritage and cultural practices.
- Role of NABARD: The certification process was supported and facilitated by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
- Total GI Products Supported: With these additions, the number of GI-certified products supported by NABARD in Assam has increased to 12.
