Explanation :
What are Biopolymers?
It is a polymer that is developed from living beings and is biodegradable in nature. Some of the examples of Biopolymers are- Protein, Lipids, Glucose, DNA, RNA etc. The most common Biopolymer is cellulose.
How friendly is Biopolymer to the Environment?
- Biopolymers are carbon neutral i.e- CO2 released by the polymer is approximately same as CO2 Sequestered or Absorbed (E.g. CO2 is absorbed by the plant during the process of photosynthesis and that gets converted into cellulose or carbohydrates).
- As biopolymers are compostable, it causes less pollution.
