6th BRICS Film Festival Awards 2021

The 6th edition of the BRICS Film Festival was held alongside 52nd India International Film Festival (IFFI) from 20-28 November at Goa.

26 November: Indian Constitution Day 2021

Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day, is observed annually on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

  • The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November, 1949, and it came into force on 26 January 1950, which is celebrated in the country as Republic Day.

26 November: National Milk Day

Every year since 2014, Dr Verghese Kurien’s birthday (26 November) is observed as National Milk Day.

  • This year (November 26, 2021), marks his 100th birth anniversary.

Exercise ‘Dosti’

The 15th edition of the Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka biennial Trilateral Exercise ‘Dosti’ was conducted in the Maldives from 20-24 November 2021.

  • The Exercise is conducted biennially among the Coast Guards of the 3 countries.

Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2021

Pratham, a civil society organisation dedicated to improving the quality of education among underprivileged children in India and across the world, has been selected for the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2021.

Awarded for

  • Pratham was awarded for its pioneering work over more than a quarter century in seeking to ensure that every child has access to quality education, for its innovative use of digital technology to deliver education, for its programmes to provide skills to young adults, for its regular evaluation of the quality of education, and for its timely response in enabling children to learn during the COVID-19 related school closures.

21 November: World Fisheries Day

The World Fisheries Day is observed on 21 November annually to highlights the importance of healthy oceans ecosystems and to ensure sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world.

Global Bribery Risk Index 2021

India has slipped to 82nd position in 2021, five places down from 77th rank last year, in a global list that measures business bribery risks.

  • According to this year’s data, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Venezuela and Eritrea pose the highest commercial bribery risk, while Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and New Zealand present the lowest.

Offshore Security Exercise - 'Prasthan'

On 16th November 2021, the Western Naval Command of Indian Navy conducted a security exercise, called "Prasthan", in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off the coast of Mumbai.

  • The exercise, conducted by the Headquarters Western Naval Command, is held every six months.
