DDWS Hosts First District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad

On 14th October 2025, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, organised the first-ever District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad to strengthen district-led governance and foster innovation under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

• The Peyjal Samvad marked a significant step towards institutionalising collaboration between districts and the central government to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all rural households.
• It served as a dynamic platform for District Collectors to exchange best practices, identify replicable governance models, and explore locally driven innovations that can enhance the operational efficiency and reliability of rural water supply systems.
• The presentations reflected a strong emphasis on integrating technology, community engagement, and capacity-building measures to ensure equitable and long-lasting access to safe drinking water for all households.
• The event highlighted how district-led initiatives—such as local water testing laboratories, community-driven maintenance systems, and decentralized water resource planning—can play a transformative role in achieving the Jal Jeevan Mission’s broader vision of “Har Ghar Jal.”
